Why your Canada Goose hood has no fur
For most of the brand's history the hood ruff was genuine North American coyote fur. It was there for a reason: coyote guard hairs shed frost instead of trapping it, and the dense ruff breaks wind before it reaches your face. Canada Goose announced the end of fur purchasing in 2021, stopped manufacturing with fur in 2022, and the last fur-trimmed stock sold through by around 2025.
What most owners do not realise is that the hoods themselves barely changed. The Wyndham, Expedition, Chilliwack, Langford, Shelburne, Chateau and MacMillan all still carry a hood zipper designed to take a removable fur trim. Your options for a fur hood in 2026
There are really only three, and two of them are poor.
1. Hunt for pre-2022 stock secondhand
Possible, but you are buying a used jacket at close to new prices, in whatever size and colour happens to be listed, with fur that has already had years of wear. 2. Buy a generic "fur hood trim" online
Marketplace trims are usually faux fur or low-grade real fur cut to a generic length, with a universal zipper that does not match the hood channel on these jackets. Most end up sewn on, sitting flat, or returned. Since Etsy banned natural fur listings in August 2026, most of these sellers have disappeared anyway.
3. Add a fit-matched genuine coyote trim

How the fur hood trim attaches
Open your hood flat and find the zipper running along the front edge of the hood. That is the fur channel. Line up the trim's zipper at the end nearest the chin, engage it, and run it round to the other side. The whole thing takes about a minute the first time and about twenty seconds after that. If your model shipped with a hood but no visible zipper, message us with the model name before ordering and we will confirm the fit. A handful of newer lightweight styles do not have a channel, and we would rather tell you that than sell you a trim that will not attach.

Not sure which colour matches your jacket? Gold-Brown is the closest to the original factory ruff on most models. Milk-Brown suits lighter shells (Grey, White, etc). Silver-Light is the choice for black and navy jackets where you want contrast.

Replacing a worn original fur hood
If you own a pre-2022 jacket and the original ruff has gone flat, matted or patchy, the same trims fit. Unzip the old fur, zip on the new one. Many customers keep the original in a drawer and use the ArcticFur trim as the everyday hood; the Grand cut in particular is fuller than most factory ruffs ever were. Does a fur hood trim fit every Canada Goose?
It fits every model with a hood zipper channel, which covers the large majority of parkas and bombers made since the early 2000s, including current fur-free versions. A few lightweight styles have no channel; message us to check.
Is it real coyote fur?
Yes. Genuine North American coyote, the same species used on the original factory ruffs. We do not sell faux fur.
Will it damage or void the jacket?
No. The trim uses the existing zipper. Nothing is sewn, glued or cut. Remove it and the jacket is exactly as it was.
