Coyote Fur Trim Care Guide
Genuine coyote fur lasts many seasons with almost no effort. These are the five things worth knowing.
1. First unboxing: restore the volume
Fur compresses in transit. Give the trim a firm shake, then run a blow dryer on the COOL setting through the fur for a minute and it lofts back to full volume. Never use heat: hot air damages the guard hairs. Light shedding in the first days is completely normal for genuine fur and settles quickly.
2. Shape the wire once, properly
The internal shaping wire holds whatever arc you set. Shape it so the fur frames your face without collapsing forward. Reset it any time, it does not fatigue.
3. Snow and rain
Snow brushes off, that is what coyote fur is for. Light rain is fine. If the trim gets soaked, shake it out, let it air dry naturally away from radiators, then cool blow dry to re loft. Never tumble dry, never direct heat.
4. Through the season
An occasional shake and a slow pass with a wide toothed comb, gently and with the grain, keeps the fur from matting where it rubs your shoulders. If the ruff starts looking tired mid winter, the cool blow dryer trick works every time.
5. Summer storage
Unzip the trim, shake it, and store it loosely in a breathable cotton bag or pillowcase, never a sealed plastic bag, which traps moisture. Cool, dry, dark place. It will come out in October exactly as it went in.
