A fur hood trim takes more wear than any other part of a winter jacket. It gets rained on, crushed under bag straps, slept against on flights, and after a few seasons even good fur goes flat, patchy or matted. And a growing number of jackets now ship with no fur at all. Whichever describes yours, the fix is the same: a replacement trim that zips into the hood channel your jacket already has.
How to tell if your trim can be replaced
Open the hood flat and look along its front edge. If there is a zipper running from one side to the other, your jacket was designed for a removable fur trim, and a replacement zips straight in. This is how most cold-weather parkas are built — Canada Goose most famously, but many other zip-hood parkas use the same construction. If your current fur is attached by buttons, poppers or stitching, message us a photo and we will tell you honestly whether one of our trims can work.
Real fur or faux: why it matters on a hood
The ruff on a serious winter hood was never decoration. Long coyote guard hairs shed frost instead of collecting it and break the wind before it reaches your face, which is why expedition jackets used coyote for decades. Faux fur absorbs moisture, freezes, and flattens permanently within a season or two. Choosing your replacement
Two decisions: cut and colour.
Cut. The Classic (£205) restores the balanced, original-style silhouette most jackets shipped with. The Grand (£235) is noticeably fuller — more volume around the face than most factory ruffs ever had. If you are replacing a flattened original and want it to look better than it did new, Grand is the usual choice.
Colour. Gold-Brown is the classic ruff colour and suits almost everything. Milk-Brown flatters lighter shells — limestone, grey, tan. Silver-Light gives black and navy jackets a sharp contrast look.
Fitting takes about a minute
Line the trim's zipper up at the chin end of the hood channel, engage it, and run it around to the other side. No sewing, no glue, no tailor, and nothing about your jacket is modified — unzip it and the jacket is exactly as it was. Full video walkthrough: how to attach a fur hood trim.

Caring for the new trim
Real coyote fur lasts many seasons with almost no effort: shake out moisture, never tumble dry, store it unzipped in a breathable bag over summer, and brush occasionally with a wide-tooth comb. The full routine is in the fur care guide.
